With thousand of new and different food establishments in and outside the metropolis, I wouldn't be shocked to know how our taste becomes more discriminating and tends to look for something better. But come to think of it, there are some old place that needs revisiting - for all we know, they have new dishes ready to fill our tummies and bring back the happiness we once love from them.
Last week, I had a chance to visit Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. A haven for authentic and truly sophisticated spots - from clothing line, home accessories and even to food, Shangri-La now houses the lady of the famous restaurant Murray's New Orleans - the Minerva's Cajun Shack.
Aside from carrying New Orlean's famous and in-demand giant margaritas, which are popularly known as MEGAritas, this new persona of New Orleans shares new and really, really delicious dishes that I got to try with some old and new found friends.
Oyster Rockefeller - Php349.00
Chicken Liver Lardon - Php275.00
For starter, we were able to indulge on these amazing treats that I find so welcoming. The Oyster Rockefeller is, of course, nothing but superb. A crowd's favorite most of the time, these ocean delight were topped with cream spinach, salted bacon and Parmesan cheese that are just worth drooling for.
As for the Chicken Liver Lardon, if you wanna start your food trip here in Minerva on a higher cloud, this one is the appetizer to try. Imagine a chicken liver wrapped with bacon? Heaven, right? So, yeah, order this!
Shrimp Etouffee Pasta - Php385.00
For pasta dish, we were able to try this Shrimp Etoufee Pasta - and I tel you, if you love, love, love seafood pastas - THIS ONE IS A MUST TRY! The creaminess and how the flavor blended really well is something to love about this one. I will be back for more of this, that I'm sure.
If you are a rice person, the Voodobo Rice is quite good too. But if you have an option between this and the BBQ Spareribs, I'm pretty sure, you'll enjoy the latter more - just like us!

I guess this is one of the many reasons why I keep coming back to New Orleans. No matter how they change their look and add some more new dishes, the are just some great dishes that are hard to leave behind. And I'm so happy to find the one that gives comfort and just spells home - the BBQ Spareribs.
