Vigan's Cafe Leona, Must Experience!

Vigan, a city of cobblestone, old houses, delicious empanadas, garlicky longganisas, crunchy bagnets, and many more - things that I will never get tired experiencing in this humble and peaceful place. And as I rediscover this humble town up north, Cafe Leon served as our relief and dining room away from home ready to fill one's tummy with the irresistible Ilocano dishes that are truly world-class.

Taking its name from the famous Ilocana poet, satirist and playwright, Leona FLorentino, Cafe Leona is located right at the very heart of the city offering all the famous Ilocano dishes that you could think off, as well as some unique international cuisine fusion, to all tourists spending time taking a walk back to the past.

From morning til late at night, after the enjoyable their stroll along the famous Calle Crisologo, one can find relief through the delicious Filipino food offerings here at Cafe Leona.

And I, together with some friends, who took time off from work and appreciate the beauty of the Philippines from the far north, spent some quality dinner time here in Cafe Leona after our long and enjoyable walk at the historic Calle Crisologo.

A Different Flavor of Aklan at Kitty's Kitchen

When I visited Kalibo, Aklan a few months ago for their annual Ati-atihan Festival, one of the restaurants that I visited and really filled my very hungry tummy was this place they call Kitty's Kitchen.

With a very modern Pinoy interior, I was really delighted to stumble upon this place. Kalibo was very crowded that time, and it was hard to find a decent place to eat, so despite of the place looking too chic (meaning prices may be over my meal allowance for that trip) I tough it out, take a seat and asked for their menu.

The place was kinda full that night, luckily there's a spare table at the corner that it is just perfect for the alone me. I'm honestly clueless as to what to order, so I just asked for their bestseller, which my usual request when I visited a new place. :-)

Their server, who was sweet and really approachable, just like the other Akleans that I've met during my visit here, told me that their bestseller and most ordered that night was their Original BBQ Ribs.

I turned my head to the other tables to check, and indeed, most of the guests that night have that meal on their tables. I'm just not that sure if they were tourists who are also clueless like me. Hehe.

Boracay: Smoke

I know that a lot of you who have never been to the adventure-filled island of Boracay would think that everything is expensive here. I’m telling you, YOU ARE WRONG. Because during my last night on the island, in my quest to find a more affordable dining place, I found Smoke!

Smoke is a local restaurant which you can find at the far corner of D Mall, Station 2, Boracay. With is bloody red color, this place is popular for its affordable, home-styled meals too.

From itlog na pula, tuyo, to sinigang, down to grilled seafood, you can find it here and readily available upon ordering.

Open til late night, Smoke was the answer to my hungry tummy during my last night here in Boracay. And though the place is packed during lunch and dinner time, probably because of its affordability, that night Smoke was all mine and some few other customers. Hehe.

The place is really small, if you’d asked me, only about 30 to 40 people can seat in here. The acoustic was pretty bad during lunch and dinner. With every guest almost shoulder to shoulder when dining in, talking to one another would be a problem. But that night, when I visited the place, again, it was almost all mine, so I really had a great time dining there.
