Sumo Sam Invades Baguio City!

Friends from the beautiful mountain, you don't have to go down anymore from your beautiful and cold Baguio City, because with the latest addition of Sumo Sam branch at Ayala Techno Hub in Camp John Hay, you can now have your chance to enjoy the sumptuous modernized Japanese treats prepared by Sumo Sam!

Last Friday, together with the Baguio City's local media and Cordillera bloggers, I was invited to take part on the opening of the latest Japanese craze that is about to hit the Summer Capital of the Philippines. And even though the man behind it is not available due to some work-related activities, Marvin Agustin's Sumo Sam opened in Camp John Hay with a whattaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

The opening and blessing of Sumo Sam Baguio was headed by Baguio City Bishop Most Reverend Carlito J. Cenzon, CICM, D.D., together with John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) President Jamie Agbayani and Sumo Sam's Adolf Allen Aran Jr.

As a Sumo Sam tradition, right after the blessing and throwing of coins, a giant maki prepared by Sumo Sam Baguio chef was sliced into pieces which was shared by most of the guests.

It marked the start of the Sumo Sam feast, so without further ado, the trays containing the familiar Sumo Sam's bestsellers were then offered starting with the Ebi Tempura, Chicken Teriyaki, Seafood Yakisoba, Beef Teppanyaki, Fried Gyoza, Makis and Japanese Fried Rice.

I must say that with that cool weather in Baguio despite of the summer heat, it is still more fun to eat here in Baguio City! Wee! But since Japanese cuisine is not that into sweet desserts, Sumo Sam Baguio offered us some fresh fruits for us to enjoy the summer opening of this latest branch of Sumo Sam here in the City of Pines!

An oh, btw, an insider told me that the design of Sumo Sam Baguio is created by one of Baguio City's artists. It feels like Spidey to me, but yeah, I love the modern approach on this one!

Congratulations, Sumo Sam! Keep up the good work!
Happy eating!
