Chinese New Year at Manila Pavilion Hotel

We may be in the Philippines, and some of us may hate the Chinese for taking some of our precious islands, but when Chinese New Year hits the world, there's definitely one big and colorful celebration in every little Chinatown in the world to usher this new beginning.

And last Chinese New Year, February 19, since the government finally declared it as a special non-working holiday in the whole country, I went out to somehow celebrate this festive day with some friends. Guess where our feet took us? Yep, to the newly renovated Manila Pavilion Hotel!

This Chinese New Year, Manila Pavilion Hotel highlighted the sounding and colorful festivity of our fellow Filipino-Chinese through an Oriental buffet that features the most amazing and filling dishes of our Chinese friends.

Wai Ying FastfFood in Manila's Chinatown

Greasy, Unhealthy and sometimes untidy - that's what most of you have in mind when you hear Chinese food, but where you like it or not, you cannot deny the fact that they are the most loved dishes in the whole wide world. And here in the metro, there's one place that is greasy but delicious and FAST Chinese food that you can have ti late at night - Wai Ying Fastfood!

One of the oldest Chinatown in the world, Manila's Chinatown has been known for the center of Chinese delicacies that never fails to serves those greasy food craving in the metropolis. And a few days ago, together with very dear friends, we indulged in to an amazing food trip in Chinatown that just didn't fill us, but made us love Chinese cuisine even more.

Wai Ying Fastfood or simply Wai Ying is located at the very heart of Manila's Chinatown. Specifically situated along the street of Benavidez in Binondo, Manila, Wai Ying offers a wide array of Chinese goodies that come in a very good serving size and pocket-friendly price.

I've been to Chinatown many times before, but I really haven't done such food tripping, so this is kinda my first time to really sit inside a shanty-looking Chinese food store and hoping that I'll just have their very best offering.

Kung Fu Kitchen now Kicking at SM Manila

If there's second cuisine that we, Filipinos, would consider, I guess, there's no doubt that it would the amazing Chinese cuisine. Since their colonization, our country has been one of the steaming post of Chinese delicacies in Asia, that's why no wonder that in every town here in our country, there's that small but really filling Chinese restaurant ready to serve you with oily but delicious Chinese treats. And now, SM Manila brings another Chinese cuisine option ready to kick your hunger and fill your tummy with sumptuous delights - Kung Fu Kitchen - Feasts of Fury!

Peacefully situated at the 4th level of SM Manila, Kung Fu Kitchen is another themed-restaurant from the masters of theme restaurants Raymund Magdaluyo and Marvin Agustin. With a concept of a typical Chinese restaurants that we do see in movies, such as Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan's movies, Kung Fu Kitchen is filled with interesting interiors and colorful dishes ready to test your cravings.

Dragon Chef Trinoma - Now Open!

Nowadays, people are not just going to a place where there's delicious food, the ambiance and the interior are now playing major roles in choosing where to eat and where to stay. That's why here in the newly opened Chinese food haven in Trinoma, the Dragon Chef, they didn't just made a hearty dining place, they also made it hip for every foodie to enjoy!

Located at the fourth level - garden area of this hippest mall in Quezon City, Dragon Chef opened its doors just two weeks ago to give a more colorful twist in every Pinoy's Chinese cravings. From the makers of Robotosan, Sumo Sam, John & Yoko, Mr. Kurosawa, Marciano’s and more, Dragon Chef promises to make your stay in their place as unique as possible but still with that classic home, Pinoy style.

On my first visit here, the splash of vibrant colors welcomed me as well as the wonderful aroma of their dishes came crawling up to my nostrils. I guess the hippy look of this place was specifically made to boost our appetite, because even though I wasn't that hungry that night, I managed to eat a lot and enjoyed most of their offerings.

The Red Crab Series: Komrad at Eastwood Libis

Inspired by two distinct districts of China, Komrad got its remarkable and worth-sharing dishes from the districts of Hunan and Sichuan. With both being located at the southern part of the country with mostly high-intensity dishes, or spicy in simplest term, Komrad at Eastwood Mall in Libis, Quezon City just opened its door to share to you authentic Hunan and Sichuan dishes.

Located at the second level of the Eastwood Mall, along the Veranda, Komrad is the newest addition to the growing themed restaurants of The Red Crab Group of Companies. And now, with actor-chef Marvin Agustin joining them on this project, Komrad is considered as one of the must-visit restaurant now here in Eastwood.

Hongkong Roast: A Taste of Hongkong in Makati City

With a lot of different food establishments sprouting everywhere like mushrooms in Metro Manila, it simply proves that food business is booming and making it one of the best hubby-turned-business "in" thing here in the country. But for us "foodies" who knows nothing but to enjoy life and EAT, finding a comfortable foodie spot that offers not only delicious food but unique presentation and pocket-friendly prices is still a challenge.

Last week, I was invited to check out and have a taste of their dishes from this Hongkong-style restaurant that offers excellent food, fast service, unfussy surroundings and affordable prices - Hongkong Roast Food Express (HKR) in Makati City.

A day before the said date of the invitation that I received, I read at Our Awesome Planet that this place is now one of their  favourites, so I didn't hesitate to have a taste of Hongkong right beside the crazy world of Makati Central Business District.

Located along Bagtikan Street and Sacred Heart Road, this very ordinary hole-in-the-wall restaurant will surely catch your attention because of their roasted chickens hanging from their window.

XO Kitchen: Tasting Modern Chinese

XO Kitchen’s name comes from the XO Sauce, a dried scallop sauce that was very popular to Chinese even on the early days. According to one of XO Kitchen’s owner, Jan Vanliam Tan, the said sauce has become a part of family meal for a very long time that they decided to make for family consumption. And from then on, people started hearing about the sauce and the delicious dishes that his parents are making that’s why just a few months ago they opened their very first chain of restaurant, the XO Kitchen.
